Rincon de la Victoria
Rincon de la Victoria lies on the coast 10 kilometers east of Malaga, in the southwest of the Axarquia. Many Spanish families own properties here and use them as summer houses, which is one of the reasons why the fishing town has kept its traditional charm and ambience.

With the mountains in the north, the Mediterranean Sea in the south and a river running between them, this town also provides one of the most beautiful and spectacular natural settings on the Costa del Sol. If you are interested in villas or fincas, you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views over much of the surrounding area and the majority will have lush subtropical gardens, terraces and a swimming pool. You will also find new developments of townhouses and apartments with community pools in the centre of the town as well as on the outskirts.
Property in the town is also perfect for golf lovers. Añoreta Golf course, designed by José María Cañizares was the second golf course to be built on the east side of the Costa del Sol. The club was opened in 1990 and the course now has 18 holes, 11 of which feature water hazards. Townhouses and new apartments are being built near to the course and offer excellent investment opportunities.
Driving inland and further into the mountains you soon come to the village of Benagalbon, which is a traditional white-washed Andalusian village with a delightful 15th century Moorish church and very pleasant cafes. Many of the locals do not speak English but are friendly and helpful. A few kilometers further up is Moclinejo, also of Moorish origin, although renovation and some new construction have taken place. The church of Santa Maria was built in the 16th century and has beautiful Moorish arches in the bell tower and roof. On Good Friday the villagers perform a passion play here which attracts visitors from all over the region. With spectacular views over the Bay of Malaga, and only 11 kilometres from the coast, Moclinejo is a sought-after village to live in.
Another village of growing popularity is Totalan in the heart of the Malaga Mountains. According to Mateo Gallego, the name of the town derives from the Arabic word for cake or tart ("torta" in Spanish), this theory based on documents that mention different houses named Tortela, Tortila and Tortalan because of the typical Andalusian tarts that were made there. With close proximity to Malaga and the airport, new construction surrounding the town offers fantastic value for money. Also for people who like shopping, there is a large commercial centre (which has a hypermarket, clothes shops, arcade, bars, restaurants and a cinema) within a 10 minutes drive away.
Chilches, east of Rincon has a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere with a good community spirit and several bars and restaurants. In recent years, new villas have been built in the surrounding areas enjoying the same stunning sea views as the village itself. Here you will find Spain as it used to be. An area famous for its wine, its olive oil and, more recently, its tropical fruit - mangoes, avocados, lychees and guavas. Along the coast there are safe, sandy beaches with friendly merenderos selling sizzling sardines whilst, just a few miles inland, you can discover other little whitewashed villages and harnessed pairs of oxen tilling the fields.
