Nerja
The idyllic towns of Nerja, Frigiliana and Torrox are located at the foothills of the Almijara mountain range and all benefit from having fantastic views to both the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.

Nerja is a pretty town nestled amongst cliffs and coves at the waters edge. The beaches are clean with powdery sand and are rarely busy. The old town relatively unchanged since its fishing days offers narrow winding streets, white-washed houses and decorated balconies. At the heart of Nerja is the Balcón de Europa or Balcony of Europe. The balcony perched on a cliff edge was constructed in 1487 on the site of a 9th century Moorish castle and offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean as well as palm trees and benches providing shade and a place to relax. There is also a fine selection of bars and cafés along here and the visitor can hire a horse-drawn carriage to explore the most romantic corners of the town.
Nerja´s most eminent attraction is its caves, which were discovered in 1957 and are located 3km from the town. The caves are considered of great historical importance, nationally, and contain paintings and artifacts dating as far back as 30,000 years. One of the caverns has been converted into a concert hall and concerts are staged there during the summer months.
Just a ten minute drive inland of Nerja and sitting high on a mountain ridge overlooking the sea is the village of Frigiliana. Voted the 'prettiest village in Andalucía' by the Spanish tourism authority, it is easy to understand why. With spectacular panoramic views this typical Pueblo Blanco is filled with a tangle of narrow cobbled streets lined by whitewashed houses, wrought-iron balconies displaying planters of brilliant red geraniums and small plazas providing shady eating spots. Village bars are popular with visitors who come here to taste the locally produced wine and there are several excellent shops selling pottery and ceramics, including decorative plates with their distinctive Arab design.
Property prices in the Nerja / Frigiliana area are some of the highest in the region due to its popularity. However to compensate, some of the best rental incomes can be made from a purchase of a property in this area. On the other hand, Torrox Costa and Torrox Pueblo only 10 minutes drive away have also started to receive similar interest. Here the prices of property are slightly lower but don’t leave it too late, many purchasers are catching on quickly! Torrox Pueblo itself offers excellent properties for sale including local townhouses, small casitas and apartments, while the surrounding countryside provides the opportunity to purchase villas, rural properties or plots of land to design and build your own home.
